The 3rd Annual Tacony Creek Park Music and Arts Fest was another success! Hosted in partnership with Olney Culture Lab of CultureTrust Greater Philadelphia, 226 adults and children gathered at the Thomas K. Finletter School on Saturday, October 7 from 1-5pm to kick-off the Fall Season with music, craft activities, and community resources.
We work with neighbors, partners, and stakeholders to improve and bring lots of visitors to Tacony Creek Park through programs and events. The park needs lots of love and attention! The Music and Arts Festival is one of our major seasonal events to bring residents together to learn about and enjoy the park. We are sad that, for the second year in a row, we had to bring the Festival indoors because of the weather. But the goal was the same: to encourage people of all ages to explore, enjoy, and engage with this special green space right down the street!
River Days and Thrive Outside Greater Philadelphia are two special initiatives that make the Festival possible. The purpose of these initiatives is to break down barriers to make outdoor recreation equitable and accessible for all, especially in the Delaware River Watershed.
There was a wonderful lineup of musical performances from Children’s Entertainers City Love, Guitarist Will Ellsworth, Hip Hop Artists Sumchai and Zaire Best, and Soul Songstresses Precious and Zami Inez.
Friends and families enjoyed making crafts by painting pumpkins, coloring and making pin-back buttons, and playing games such as tic tac toe, cornhole boards, and giant connect four. And most of all, ice cream sandwiches and ice pops from the Popalong Truck.
This event was also an opportunity to acknowledge the winners of the 2023 Photo Contest.
We want to thank all the organizations listed below for joining and providing wonderful resources and giveaways such as books, shirts, trees, COVID tests, and even free internet! We also want to thank all the volunteers who joined and helped us with setup and tabling. We couldn’t have done it without all of you!
